Decorate a "rain, rain, go away" umbrella with fabric paint

Let's Paint an Umbrella!

They say that April showers bring May flowers.
So, I updated an old umbrella with some fabric paint.
Now we'll look cute while staying dry.

Materials Needed to Paint Your Umbrella:

How to Paint your Umbrella!

1.  First, I opened up the umbrella.
2.  Then, I took a piece of chalk and sketched out where the letters were going to go.
3.  Then, I used a paintbrush to paint on the letters using fabric paint.
4.  I let the paint dry according to the directions, but didn't heat set my letters because I was afraid of melting the umbrella.

Ta-da!  What do you think? I think it look pretty adorable.

(Psst- I also worried about the durability of the paint.  Once the paint dried according to instructions, I placed the umbrella in the shower and let it sit under running water for 4 minutes.  I'm not going to lie.  It was super tough waiting to see the results.  Luckily for me, the paint job still looked good.  Hooray!  I feel hopeful that the paint will last.  Check back for an update once we use the umbrella a couple of times.   Cross your fingers!)
