Since we don't own many power tools (and if I'm going to be honest, I'm quite ill-equipped to use them since I'm dangerously clumsy) I ended up going the easy route. I disguised my USB drive inside of a rubber frog toy. So the only "tool" I used was an exacto knife.
"Ribbit, ribbit! Feed me data!"
Materials:
- Super tiny USB drive (Or, carefully break open off the plastic casing of an existing drive)
- Rubber toy that's large enough to fit your USB drive
- Exacto knife
- Optional: Moldable Epoxy or Hot Glue (to secure your drive in place)
Directions:
1. Make sure that your USB drive fits inside your rubber toy. (Chuck had a bunch of rubber frogs lying around, so I took one for this project.) Then, cut a hole in your toy to fit your USB drive. (I erred on the side of caution and made the hole smaller than the drive at first and then carefully cut the rest away.)
2. Shove your USB into your toy. Make sure that a) the part that sticks into the computer sticks out of your toy and b) your USB drive is oriented the right way so your toy correctly sticks right side up.
Optional: Other DIYers say to use moldable epoxy or hot glue to secure your drive in place. Mine already fit snugly, so I didn't use either.
And that's it! Happy crafting!
