About a month ago, I received a free copy of 101 Kids Activities to review. It was written by the amazing kid blogger duo Rachel and Holly from Kids Activities Blog. These ladies are like the queens of kid fun and I was super excited to see what they had in store. 101 and activities? Wowzers.
After looking through the book, I can definitely say that it is an awesome go-to resource for anyone who wants to battle kid boredom. (Which seems to be especially prevalent in the summer... right?) The activities are super fun and use everyday, affordable materials. Here's an example of one activity that Chuck and I tried out from the book- bubble prints!
Make Bubble Prints!
Materials To Make Bubble Prints
- Bubble Solution (The book gave a recipe for homemade bubbles, but we just used normal bubble solution)
- Straws
- Tape
- Cups
- Paper
Let's Make Some Bubble Prints!
1. We poured a little bit of bubble solution in each cup.
2. Then, we added a drop of food coloring into each cup and stirred.
3. Then, we used tape to tape several straws together. (I just used as many as Chuck could fit in his mouth.)
4. Then, Chuck and I dipped one end of the straws into the bubble solution and then just blew bubbles onto the paper. As the bubbles popped, beautiful bubble prints formed. (Note: I made sure to warn Chuck to blow and not suck. Bubble solution tastes pretty gross.)
Here are some shots of the beautiful bubble art as it was being created:
Gorgeous, isn't it?
Chuck particularly enjoyed creating larger and larger bubble structures!
After the bubble art dried, I wondered what to do with it. Then, I remembered our watercolor and crayon resist artwork notebooks. So I simply cut up our bubble artwork, and made it into a lovely, small notebook. Now I just use it to write notes on.
If you're looking for another way to turn your bubble prints into a modern and beautiful piece of artwork ... check out this cool bubble geometry drawing post from fellow Rockin' Arts Mom Jeanette (Tiny Rotten Peanuts.) It's an uber cool idea from an uber cool lady.
Chuck's 2 1/2 and he really enjoyed making this bubble artwork. And I can't wait to try out other activities from the book. It's pretty neat because now we can have our own mini kids' summer camp... right at home.
Happy making, friends! Pin It
