No Sew Super Hero Cape

I don't sew.  I tried, but it just never happened.  (And since we're disclosing dirty, crafty secrets, I'll also admit that I don't crochet and I'm a terrible knitter.)  Last week we saw a boy wearing a cape in the park.  Chuck loved it so much that he asked me to make him a cape too.  That's when I thought, "Uh oh.  I'm a terrible sewer... that might be a problem."  But then I thought about it and came up with this ridiculously easy, super quick, crazy cheap, no sew super hero cape.

This cape took only a couple of minutes to make... which was awesome because Chuck and piggy were too excited and trying their very best to wait patiently.   I almost didn't post this tutorial because it was ridiculously easy.  But the photos of Chuck wearing the cape were too cute to not share.  Let's get making!

Materials Needed to Make Super Hero Cape

Let's Make a Super Hero Cape!

Let's draw a plan, man

1. Talk with your client.  Make a plan for what your super hero cape should look like.  (As you can tell, we made a very detailed plan with lots of specific measurements.... )

Cut up your paper template pieces

2.  Cut out your template pieces from paper.  (Chuck's cape was the size of 1 piece of felt from the craft store.)

3.  Trace your template pieces onto your felt.  Use your fabric scissors to cut the felt pieces out.

4.  Hot glue your pieces on.

5.  You're done.  Phew.  Wipe your sweaty brow with a cloth.  Attach the felt capes onto your child and toy with safety pins.

Ack.  So cute.

Chuck loves his cape so much that he's already worn it 3 days in a row.  Whoa. Here's a photo of him wearing the cape to the park (in hopes of meeting that other caped boy again.)
