Easy Washi Tape Thanksgiving Banner

With the shorter days and longer nights, my husband and I have been trying to figure out ways to keep our preschooler entertained. (Do you find yourself in that situation too? I'd love to hear any ideas!)
Since I love crafting, I've been coming up with easy crafts that we can make together with stuff that's already lying around at home.
Here's a quick snapshot of our table last week:
Today's Thanksgiving banner was inspired by the new craft book Washi Tape Crafts. It's written by Amy Anderson, the crafty mastermind behind the awesome blog Mod Podge Rocks. I love Amy and her work and was fortunate enough to receive a free copy of this book to review.
What I love about the book is that it's filled with hundreds of easy ideas (and photos!) to use washi tape to transform ordinary objects' appearances AND it comes with 10 rolls of washi tape to help you get started.
Today's washi tape craft consists of 3 mini-crafts. We made 2 of the crafts in one night and the other craft a couple of days before. All 3 crafts are so easy to make that my preschooler had a hand making all of them!
Craft 1: Make Washi Tape and Straw Beads
Then, we decorated them with washi tape!
Boom. Done. Ready to be strung!
Craft 2: Make Popsicle Stick Stars
I took some mini popsicle sticks and drew a line in the middle of them, dividing them in 2. Then, we used our watercolors and painted them. After they dried, I hot glued them to create these small and colorful stars.
Craft 3: Paint Chip Letters
After we made the beads, stars, and letters, we simply tied and taped everything to a long strand of yarn.
And that's it! This banner is currently hanging in our dining room and I smile every time I see it. I just love that my son and I created it together.
Let's keep in Contact!
