How to Host a Graham Cracker House Making Party
Ok, to start off, here are the materials you'll need:
Materials Needed
- Wrapping paper (or table cloth to cover tables and make the party festive)
- Masking Tape and Staplers (to attach milk cartons together)
- Scissors (to cut candies or cardboard)
- Plastic bowls, cups, plates, knives, and spoons (For holding candy, houses, and adhering icing)
- Food Coloring (For dying icing)
- Wet Wipes + Towels (For easy clean up)
- Lots of clean and empty milk cartons/ small cardboard boxes (I just got them from our school cafeteria)
- Candy (An assortment is great, also try including other food items like pretzels, animal crackers, cereal, mini ice-cream cones, or fruit roll ups)
- Icing (Cheap cake icing works great! One tub will make around 2-3 houses.)
- Graham Crackers (One box will make around 3-4 houses.)
Set up
HINT 1:
This is the big important secret to making the party easy to plan and affordable- get your friends to help! Yes! I send out invitations about a week before and ask guests to bring
- A snack (to share with friends)
- One graham cracker making item (Icing, Candy, or Graham Cracker Box)
When everyone contributes something small to the party you end up with a super awesome assortment of goodies! (This year someone brought lego candy- whoa. A big hit! Someone else brought all sorts of different colored sprinkles. The kids had a blast sprinkling up a storm!)
Plus, as the host, you can fill in what's needed. This way you won't have to spend a lot of money when you don't have to!

HINT 2:
If you're anti-mess.... or you have a small home, host your party at a local park! We had about 40 people attend, so the park was a great place for everyone to fit. Plus, once kids finished they could just go and play on the playground.
Let's Make Graham Cracker Houses!
1. Wrap your tables with wrapping paper.
2. Set up an area for the candy/toppings and graham crackers. Let people know they can select what they want!
3. At another table, put out your dyed icing and sprinkles. (Kids can help with the dying!) Then, have them build at this table.
Kids can choose to build with just edible items, or they can use milk cartons as a base for their houses. Simply attach crackers on with icing!
Once houses are built, have fun decorating!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE seeing kids being creative. Here are some of the houses that we built-
(And as you can see, we included some Valentine's day themed candies in there too!)
Ok, that's all! I hope that this post inspires you to create something with the kiddos!
