Play-dough and Cardboard Mazes

Hello friends!  I'm currently on the lookout for easy (and not too messy) ways to keep the kids entertained.  Today I'm sharing a fun preschool STEAM activity that kept both my boys entertained.  We've made outdoor rock mazes, edible candy mazes, and Lego mazes.  Today we're keeping the theme going with these super easy play-dough mazes!

Let's Make Play-Dough Mazes!

Today's activity was one that I found in the book STEAM Play and Learn.  It was written by my friend Ana from the awesome blog, Babble Dabble Do.  (She shares amazingly easy, colorful, and fun STEAM ideas over there.  So definitely check her site out!)

Ana sent me a copy of her book to review and I LOVED it.  Bright and colorful photos really showcase her super fun STEAM ideas.  The book's activities are targeted towards preschoolers, but both of my boys (who aren't quite in that age range) really loved doing the marble maze activity.

Here's how we made our Play-Dough and Cardboard Mazes!

(By the way, you may notice that the photos below look quite different than my typical photos.  I don't have my usual setup, so sorry! I'm trying to see this as an opportunity to become a better photographer... so we'll see!)

1.  Grab a cereal box + cut out the top.  (Use tape or staplers to help the box maintain its shape.)

2.  Roll lumps of play dough into little snakes.  (My little guy really enjoyed this part.)

3.  Squish your play dough into your cereal box to create a maze.

4.  Grab your marbles and try your maze out!  (Redesign as necessary!)

And that's it! 
My youngest lost interest after a couple of rolls, but my eldest spent a good half an hour changing the layout of the maze.
