I was inspired to make these turkeys with my preschooler after seeing this pinterest pin. The crafter did such a nice job painting the turkey and I loved seeing how the shape of the cardboard roll was transformed using simple cuts and slits.
Materials Needed:
- Toilet Paper Roll
- Cereal Box
- Scissors
- Markers or Kwik Stix Tempera Paint Sticks (or whatever else you want to use to decorate the Turkeys)
How to Make Cardboard Roll Turkeys:
1. Cut slits around one end of your toilet roll to create feathers. Bend the flaps out and cut several of them off to create a nice semi-circle of feathers.
2. Cut out a turkey head shape to match the body.
3. Decorate your turkey bodies and heads.
4. Cut out corresponding slits in the body and head pieces so that they slide together.
And that's it! I really hope you have fun making this easy craft with the kids. So simple to set up, this is an excellent last-minute Thanksgiving craft.
