Pressed Flower Tray Craft for Mother's Day

I love spring! All the flowers around our neighborhood have inspired me to make another spring craft.  Today I'm sharing this pressed flower tray craft. This would be a very easy project for kids of all ages and would be a great present for Mother's Day!

Materials Needed:

  • Wooden Tray (We purchased ours from the Dollar Store.)
  • Mod Podge
  • Dried Flowers (You can dry these yourself by placing flowers inside of heavy books and waiting for two weeks. Or, you can buy already pressed flowers here. We used purchased flowers.)
  • Sponge Brush
  • Sharpie Pen or Wood Burner (for older kids)
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Optional: Sandpaper

How to Decorate Your Tray:

1. Optional: Sand your tray. This will protect your fingers!

2. Draw your design on the tray with a pencil. Then, use the wood burner to trace it, or use Sharpie. (Make sure you don't use a normal kids marker because the colors will bleed when they get wet from the glue.) Erase your pencil marks when you're finished.

3. Using your sponge brush, apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to a small portion of the tray.

4. Stick on a dried leaf or flower. (Be careful! They're fragile! Also, don't aim for perfection. ;D There's beauty in the process.)

5. Keep repeating steps 3 + 4 until you have the design that you want. Don't forget to decorate the outside of the tray too!
