We've done a ton of paper butterfly crafts on the blog and today I have one more to add to the list. I recently made these cute and easy fluttering paper butterflies with a group of preschoolers. The kids enjoyed decorating the paper insects and then flying them around outside.
Here's how we made them!
How to Make Easy Flapping Paper Butterflies with Preschoolers
Materials Needed:
- Scissors
- Colorful Paper
- Markers, Stickers, and a Paper Hole Punch
Directions:
1. Fold a normal sheet of colorful computer paper in half and cut along the fold. Now you have two half sheets that are perfect for making butterflies.
2. Fold a half-sheet in half. (You can do this, or you can have older preschoolers do it.)
3. Cut out a butterfly shape. (You can do this or you can draw out a shape and have older kids out the shape for you.)
4. Open your paper butterfly up and decorate both sides with stickers, markers, hole punches... whatever! the skies the limit!
5. Once you're done decorating, fold down one of the wings.
6. And then the other.
7. And voila! You've got some lovely paper butterflies that really will flutter! (You can see an image of our paper butterflies fluttering over on IG.)
