Christmas is right around the corner. It's been raining CONSTANTLY here and we've been keeping busy with games, movies, and a lot of crafts. Today, I'm sharing a really fun Christmas craft. This climbing paper Santa toy is the perfect DIY STEM building craft to keep hands and minds busy. Preschool, elementary, and even middle school-aged children will enjoy designing their own Santa and then watching him climb up the chimney. Best part about this activity - I'll bet you have all the materials available for an crafty afternoon of fun.
How to Build an Easy Climbing Paper Santa with Kids
Materials Needed:
- Printer Paper
- Ruler
- Markers/ Pencils/ Crayons
- Scissors
Let's Build a Climbing Paper Santa Craft!
Follow the directions below. Alternatively, you can also watch me fold one on IG!
1. Cut out a strip of paper 2.5" x 11".
2. Fold the strip of paper in half lengthwise.
3. Fold it in half horizontally.
4. Unfold the fold you just made.
5. Fold down one side of the strip so that it meets the middle crease.
6. Do the same with the other side.
7. Undo the two folds that you just made.
8. Take one side and fold the paper along the creases like so. Press down.
9. Do the same for the other side.
10. Draw a Santa on the tip of your folded paper.
11. Cut the Santa out. Then, draw a house with a chimney on the bottom portion.
12. Slide your Santa onto the bottom of your house and then move the two sides up and down to make him climb to the top of the chimney.
Isn't it cool? You can even race your friends to see which Santa makes it to the top first!
